Hyundai Motor Company has withdrawn its invalidation petition against two Korean patents held by vehicle system engineering firm Wise Automotive, ending a legal dispute that lasted four months.

In October 2024, Hyundai Motor filed petitions with the Korean Intellectual Property Office to invalidate claim 1 of Wise Automotive's patents—registered under numbers 1295618 and 1097063—titled "Apparatus and Method for Displaying Blind Spot."

In February 2025, Hyundai Motor formally retracted its invalidation petition, a decision that has now been finalized.

The patents, designed to help drivers identify blind spots and thereby enhance driving and parking safety, have been critical to advancements in vehicular safety systems.

Wise Automotive, established in 2005 by experts from the Seoul National University System Electronics Consulting Institute, has a history of pioneering developments in automotive electrical and electronic components. Their technologies range from reducing wiring and network noise to the creation of robust electronic control units, wireless communication systems, and next-generation network technologies.
