Seven technology categories defined in the latest acquisition from SKT

Samsung Electronics acquired 13 U.S. patents from SK Telecom in December 2023, expanding its patent portfolio across various technology fields. This follows a previous purchase in 2019 when Samsung acquired 37 U.S. patents from KT Corporation.
The 13 patents from SKT cover seven distinct technology categories:
- Communication and Network Technology: Patents such as the '429 patent (wireless communication), '239 patent (network security), and '118 patent (wireless communication system).
- Semiconductor and Power Management: Including the '738 patent (semiconductor device) and '735 patent (semiconductor design).
- Security and Encryption: Such as the '028 patent (data encryption) and '239 patent (network security).
- Image and Video Processing: Including the '908 patent (digital image processing), '737 patent (image sensor), and '681 patent (video data processing).
- Medical Devices and Biometric Monitoring: Including the '364 patent (glucose monitoring device) and '065 patent (biometric signal monitoring).
- Automotive Electronics and Control Systems: Such as the '762 patent (vehicle electronic systems).
- Display and Panel Technology: Represented by the '705 patent (display technology).
The 2019 acquisition from KT covered 37 U.S. patents across five technology categories:
- Communication and Network Technology: Including the '844 patent (wireless communication system), '994 patent (wireless communication), '090 patent (wireless communication), '689 patent (network), and '798 patent (network).
- Semiconductor Design and Manufacturing: Covering the '300 patent (semiconductor device and circuit design), '459 patent (semiconductor circuit design), '547 patent (semiconductor design), '220 patent (semiconductor design and manufacturing), '187 patent (semiconductor manufacturing technology), and others.

- Data Security and Encryption: Including the '000 patent (data encryption), '024 patent (network security), '015 patent (network security), and others.
