S&I and Taisung have entered into a patent dispute in South Korea, according to filings with the country's patent tribunal.
The dispute centers on S&I's patent titled "Fixing Method and Fixing Device of Coil for Fixing Cooling and Heat Water Purifier" (KR1301701). The patent relates to a technique for fixing a coil inside a water purifier's storage tank by thermally fusing the coil using high-frequency heating, a method aimed at improving both assembly efficiency and airtightness.
In May 2025, S&I, based in Incheon, filed an affirmative scope confirmation action against Taisung before the Korean Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board. In the filing, S&I alleged that Taisung infringed claim 1 of the patent.
Two months later, in July 2025, Taisung responded by filing an invalidation petition challenging claim 1 of the same patent. With both parties focusing their actions on the same claim, claim 1 appears to be the central issue in the dispute.
