Samsung Electronics and KG Mobilians have jointly filed a patent for the first time, marking a new collaboration between the two companies.
The jointly filed invention, titled "Electronic Devices, Methods, and Non-Transitory Computer-Readable Storage Medium for Split Payment" (Korean Patent Application No. 10-2024-0181036), was filed in December 2024 and published in June 2025.
The patent covers a split payment system that allows multiple users to divide and pay for a single transaction. The technology describes an e-commerce server architecture in which several payers can each pay a portion of the total amount for a shared product or order.
In June 2024, KG Mobilians announced that it would provide its newly developed split payment service exclusively for Samsung.com, Samsung's official online store for home appliances, mobile devices, PCs, and accessories.
The KG Mobilians service enables group payments without additional registration — users can complete shared purchases through a URL link generated by the original buyer, or split payments across multiple cards under the same account.
