Korean companies Deesys Co. and R-Tech System Co. have filed invalidation actions against Onion Software Co. and Ntek System Co., challenging their jointly owned patent covering a power monitoring device and system.

The patent at issue, "Power Monitoring Device and Power Monitoring System Using the Same" (KR2269660), was jointly filed in January 2021 and registered in June 2021. It claims technology for a busway power monitoring device and system designed to enhance communication stability with servers through multiple network connections.

According to filings with the Korean Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (KIPTAB), Deesys lodged an invalidation petition in April 2025 and separately sought a passive scope-of-rights confirmation in June 2025 on claims 1–6, asking the tribunal to rule that its products do not infringe the patent.

R-Tech System followed with its own invalidation petition in June 2025, targeting claims 1 and 4–6.

Financial records show Onion Software posted 2024 revenue of 30.5 billion won with 2.2 billion won in operating profit, while Ntek System reported 6 billion won in revenue but an operating loss of 2.2 billion won. Deesys recorded 11.9 billion won in revenue and 600 million won in operating profit for the same period.
