ZENrft has successfully invalidated a Korean patent held by Castwin relating to bidirectional wireless communication systems used in firefighting and rescue operations.

On May 15, 2025, the Korean Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (KIPTAB) issued a decision invalidating all claims of Korean Patent No. 2041542, titled "Bidirectional Wireless Communication Auxiliary System for Digestion and Rescue Activities." The ruling fully sided with ZENrft, which filed a petition for invalidation in August 2024.

The challenged patent covers a system that relays walkie-talkie signals through main and terminal trans repeaters, converting signals between uplink and downlink directions. The system also includes a control function to disable redundant repeaters within a defined area to prevent overlapping signal reception.

This marks ZENrft's first invalidation action against a Castwin-held patent. Should Castwin choose to contest the ruling, it may file an appeal with the Korean Patent Court.
