SK-Powertech has acquired non-exclusive licenses to 14 Korean patents related to power semiconductor technology, filed by the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) and Dankook University (DKU), according to filings dated March 2025.

The licensed patents from KERI cover 11 inventions, including:

- SiC Trench Gate Mosfet Device And Manufacturing Method Thereof (KR2330787)

- The Manufacturing Method Of Field Oxide For Application To High Voltage Device (KR1591647)

- Manufacturing Methods For Double Implanted Metal Oxide Semiconductor Devices With Low Defect Density And Low Resistivity (KR2215042)

- Aging Apparatus For Improve Characteristics Of The Power Semiconductors And Method Thereof (KR1418000)

- Apparatus For Measuring Characteristics Of Power Semiconductor (KR1323314)

- The Manufacturing Method Of Silicon Oxide For Gate Dielectrics Using A Low Temperature Process (KR1410839)

- Calibration Method For Characteristics Current Measuring Condition Setting Of The Power Semiconductors (KR1386139)

- Fabrication Methods Of Schottky Barrier Diodes (KR1615304)

- A Method Of Manufacturing Silicon-Carbide Trench Schottky Barrier Diode Using Poly-Si (KR2016447)

- The Silicon Carbide Diodes Manufacturing Methods, Including The Amine-Based Polymer (KR2221385)

- Power Semiconductor Device And A Method Of Manufacturing The Same Electric Field Limiting Ring Is Formed (KR1830174)

According to KIPRIS, the effective periods for these 11 licenses begin between 2018 and 2021 and extend through 2028 to 2031—predating the March 2025 contract. The retroactive scope suggests SK-Powertech sought to legitimize earlier use of the patented technologies.

The patents licensed from DKU include:

- Over Current Protection Circuit (KR1436691)

- Electrostatic Discharge Protection Device (KR1699616)

- Electrostatic Discharge Protection Device (KR1944190)

The license period for the DKU patents begins in 2019 and ends in 2029.

As of May 25, 2025, SK-Powertech holds no other registered non-exclusive licenses with the Korean Intellectual Property Office beyond these 14 patents.
