Hanwha Solutions and Dasco have jointly filed their first patent together, covering a photovoltaic (PV) power generation unit and associated structural system.
The patent, titled "Photovoltaic Power Generation Unit Facing East and West and Structure Using It" (Registration No. KR2720679), was registered with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in October 2024, just seven months after its March filing.
The patent outlines technology designed to enhance solar power efficiency through simplified panel support structures, the use of bifacial panels, and reflective sheet integration. According to the specification, the panels are arranged to face east and west—one side oriented to the east and the other to the west—supported by a cost-effective and installation-friendly single-post structure. The system also utilizes bifacial panels to collect solar energy on both sides, with a reflective sheet beneath the panels redirecting sunlight from the ground.
In August 2024, Dasco disclosed in its semiannual DART filing a ₩3.2 billion ($2.4 million) contract with Hanwha Solutions for the Gimcheon Repowering PV Project_19.2MW (delegated portion). However, the agreement was absent from both the company’s third-quarter and full-year reports. As of mid-2024, the project had not commenced, with a scheduled construction period spanning from April 2024 to August 2025.
