Sharp Corporation has transferred the ownership of five U.S. patents—previously held jointly with its subsidiary Sakai Display Products (SDP)—to Sharp's sole portfolio. The transfer was executed in 2024.
In tandem with the patent portfolio reconfiguration, Sharp announced in May 2024 its decision to cease operations at SDP's 10th-generation LCD facility.
The patents now solely owned by Sharp include "Display device and method for driving display device" (U.S. Patent No. 10,803,775), "Display device" (U.S. Patent No. 10,908,469), "Display device" (U.S. Patent No. 10,955,709), "Display apparatus" (U.S. Patent No. 10,923,678), and "Display device" (U.S. Patent No. 11,143,927).
Between 2022 and 2023, Sharp also transitioned the ownership of three U.S. patents—previously held jointly with SDP—to its sole portfolio.
