The Korean Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (KIPTAB) has canceled LX Hausys' patent for the "Lower Protecting Plate of Battery Module for Electric Cars" (KR2478664). The decision, issued in October 2024, revoked claims 1 through 17 following a cancellation request filed in May 2023.

During the cancellation process, LX Hausys attempted to amend claims 1, 4, and 6 of the patent. However, these efforts failed to prevent the patent from being canceled.

According to LX Hausys, the patented lower protecting plate was designed with a fiber-reinforced plastic composite, comprising a laminated sheet that includes at least one of a first or second sheet. The first sheet contained matrix resin and long-fiber reinforcement, while the second sheet utilized matrix resin with continuous-fiber fabric reinforcement woven into textile form.

The canceled patent originated from a divisional application of LX Hausys' previously registered patent for the "Battery Case for Electric Cars" (KR2475185).
