Ferm RFID Solutions Acquires Six Tire-Tracking Patents from Avery Dennison

Ferm RFID Solutions BV, a subsidiary of FineLine Technologies, acquired six U.S. patents from Avery Dennison Corporation in December 2024. The acquired patents focus on RFID labels (Radio-Frequency Identification) designed specifically for tracking tires throughout their lifecycle. 

These labels enable unique identification and real-time tracking via embedded or affixed tags, facilitate the storage and retrieval of critical data such as manufacturing details, inventory records, logistics tracking, and regulatory compliance, and offer robust performance under harsh conditions, including high temperatures, pressure, and abrasion.

The technologies covered by these patents are particularly well-suited for applications across several sectors. In automotive and tire manufacturing, they enhance production efficiency, inventory management, and quality control. For the logistics and supply chain industry, they improve visibility and traceability during tire transportation and distribution. In fleet management, the technologies optimize tire monitoring and maintenance, contributing to operational efficiency.

This acquisition builds on Ferm RFID Solutions' 2018 purchase by FineLine Technologies, a global provider of item identification solutions. At the time, FineLine stated that Ferm's expertise in RFID-enabled tire labeling solutions significantly expanded its capabilities, allowing it to deliver comprehensive solutions to the automotive and aviation industries through its extensive global service network.
