Korea Kiyon's patent for an OLED glove box (KR Patent No. 0925383) has been invalidated following a recent ruling by the Korean Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB).
In June 2023, Sehan Song filed a patent invalidation trial against the patent. In February 2024, the IPTAB ruled the patent invalid, and the decision became final in March 2024.
The invalidated patent related to glove box technology designed for research in OLED and solar cells. The glove box allowed researchers to conduct various experiments safely inside a sealed chamber while wearing gloves. It enabled precise control over internal conditions such as temperature, pressure, particle count, and oxygen concentration, facilitating safe and efficient experimentation.
Key features of the glove box included pressure and temperature control systems, detection of volatile substances and oxygen levels, particle and harmful gas removal, and an integrated safety management system.
No family patents were associated with this invalidated patent. In 2023, Korea Kiyon reported 19.5 billion won in sales, with an operating profit of 3.3 billion won and a net profit of 3.3 billion won.
