South Korea's Patent Tribunal has invalidated another LG Innotek patent related to OLED pixel deposition masks. The latest ruling, issued in early January 2025, concerns Patent No. KR2576780, titled "A Deposition Mask of Metal Plate Material for OLED Pixel Deposition."

The cancellation follows a February 2024 petition seeking to revoke claims 1–3, 6, 9–15, 17, 19–23, 25, and 27–34 of the patent. The tribunal upheld all arguments for invalidation. LG Innotek may appeal the decision by filing a lawsuit with the Korean Patent Court.

This marks the second instance of an LG Innotek mask patent being canceled. In June 2022, the Patent Tribunal invalidated claims 1–8 of Patent No. KR2257236, titled "Mask for OLED." Although LG Innotek initially challenged the ruling, it withdrew its appeal in September 2022, and the patent subsequently expired.

Despite these setbacks, LG Innotek has positioned OLED pixel deposition masks as a key area of new business development. Between July 2022 and April 2024, seven other revocation petitions targeting LG Innotek's mask patents were filed, but all were dismissed.
